About the Infopool better teaching
The Center for Teaching and Learning creates and curates materials on teaching in higher education (HE), specifically at the University of Vienna, to support you in designing and teaching your courses, as well as in reflecting and improving your teaching practice.
Origins
The Infopool better teaching originated as a work package of a project funded by the Ministry of Education, Science and Research ("Hochschulraumstrukturmittel" project titled "Besseres Schreiben, erfolgreicheres Studieren und Abschließen", 2016-2019). The first articles on feedback went online in early 2017. Since then, we have been adding material on a variety of topics, as well as updating existing entries. While more material is available in German, we are continually working on providing English versions as well.
Topics and formats
The articles are accessible in an alphabetical list, as well as grouped according to the main categories:
Texts
The texts are based on theory and current research on teaching in HE. They summarise and synthesise the current state of the art, and present the main contents in a concise and accessible manner. Many articles offer insightful examples and tips for your teaching practice. These tips and examples should make it easier for you to transfer what you have read into your own teaching and to adapt it to your specific context with its necessary requirements.
Videos
In the videos section you will find two kinds of videos: First, you will find video interviews with experts, for instance Teaching in the Lab.
Second, we share examples of what excellent teachers do at our university. The series "How Do You Do It?" features teachers from across the university who allow us glimpses into their teaching practice.
